Hubs and I often drove to Sheffield to eat at Vertillo Pizza and Grill. The prices were good and the food was great. When Vertillo decided to move to the old Pizza Hut location on Florence Boulevard, we were thrilled. So what went wrong?
In Sheffield, the owner has been accused of racial insensitivity. What that was really about, I don't know. I do know more problems arose in Florence when the restaurant seemingly supported a political candidate and a musician who had both been arrested for domestic violence against their spouses. This did not come across as a good thing to many in the Shoals.
We're still sorry to see the pizza place go. It could have been a contendah.
