Is Swampers Trying to be a Dive Bar?

Swampers Bar & Grille is located in the Marriott on Hightower Place in Florence. Despite the name, Swampers isn't (as far as we know) intended to be a dive bar. One of our regular bloggers has recently had a bad experience there. Here's J's review:

Swampers is one of our favorite places to eat and catch local musical talent. Their current abbreviated menu is a subject for another story, though.

Today's story deals with the awful smell of soured mop water that literally hit us in the face this past Sunday when we walked in. There is no excuse for that in any restaurant, let alone a restaurant operating under the Marriot banner.

But it gets better: As we found our table, we couldn't help but notice several large, thankfully dead, cockroaches littering the carpeted floor. Mind you, it was almost 1 pm. One would think that the evening's cleaning crew would have dealt with them.

On a brighter note, our food and service was exactly what we have come to expect from Swampers.

Now a review from "The Genie":

Swampers Bar & Grille is a casual restaurant located in the Florence Marriott Hotel. It is known for its Southern cuisine, live entertainment, and music memorabilia. The restaurant has a large dining room with a bar, as well as an outdoor patio.

The menu at Swampers Bar & Grille features a variety of Southern dishes, including fried chicken, catfish, shrimp and grits, and burgers. They also have a full bar with a selection of beers, wines, and cocktails.

The restaurant is known for its live entertainment, which takes place every night. There is a wide variety of performers, from local musicians to national touring acts.

Swampers Bar & Grille is also a popular spot for music lovers. The walls are covered with pictures of famous musicians who have recorded or performed in the Muscle Shoals area.

Overall, Swampers Bar & Grille is a fun and lively place to eat and enjoy live music. The food is good, the service is friendly, and the atmosphere is festive.

There you have it. We welcome all replies.
