The Pie Factory

From their website: The Pie Factory brings gourmet New York style pizza to Downtown Florence. Come experience pizza the way it was meant to be, with dough made in house daily, a variety of sauces & cheeses, and the freshest toppings available. Choose from one of our tried & true specialty pies, or create your own unique masterpiece! We also offer a robust selection of craft and small-batch beers both in bottles and on tap, with an emphasis on beers brewed right here in Alabama. Our laid-back, welcoming atmosphere is perfect for business lunches, family gatherings, or just hanging out with friends after work.

I'm going to give The Pie Factory mixed reviews. Part of the charm is dining in a patio type area, but advertised climate control just doesn't cut it in really cold weather. Dining al fresco at this restaurant is probably best in the spring or fall.

Obviously, the main dish is pizza. Unfortunately, it's been a mixed bag on my visits. About half the time, the crust is too well done. You can read that as burnt if you wish. My party was given a replacement, but it took quite a while to arrive. Another caveat is don't choose this eatery if you're in a hurry.

All that being said, the staff is very polite, if a tad slow. The prices are good for what you get and if names are important to you or those you're trying to impress, you can expect some cutesy labels like "Singing River" pizza, etc.

I say give it a try. Look online for coupons first. Don't hesitate to mention any problem with the food since they seem more than willing to make it right.
