The French Quarter in Sheffield

If you've heard the radio advertisements regarding The French Quarter that recently opened up in Sheffield next to Outback, you may be considering visiting and possibly eating there.  They advertise 'expertly crafted Cajun fare'.  A word to the wise: DON'T.

My wife and I had the opportunity to dine at The French Quarter recently.  The 'blackened' 'gator and chicken 'Po-Boys' that we ordered weren't properly cooked, bearing little resemblance to anything 'blackened' that we have ever eaten before. We would have normally sent the orders back, but it took over an hour from the time we were seated until our order was served.  The gumbo and jambalaya that we ordered as sides were absolutely inedible.

I know personally how difficult getting a new restaurant up and running can be.  The French Quarter may eventually get their act together.  In order to hasten that possibility, my advice is to employ a head chef and a kitchen manager that REALLY know what they are doing.  Until then, we won't be back.
