Shoals Favorite French Fries - Part I

A recent restaurant review produced one major taste battle here in the Shoals: French fries. Should they be battered? How about size or seasoning?

Quad-Cities Cuisine is publishing the results of our survey in two parts. First, the area's most hated fries:

Undoubtedly, the most reviled French fries are those produced by the Krystal. Of the scores who commented on favorites, no one mentioned liking the fries from Chattanooga's homegrown eatery. Hatred for Krystal fries was universal.

How about other reviled potato offerings in the Shoals?

Tying for second worst are Arby's and Chick-fil-A. Like Krystal's, not a single Shoals diner had a kind word for the offerings at these two area staples. As many hated the shapes of these two sides as the taste. If you dislike curls and waffles, beware.

Several readers disliked the fries from Burger King, making them the fourth worst in the Shoals.

While none of the above mentioned fries received any positive comments, others received mixed reviews:

Next worst were McDonald's fries, which also had a few positive votes.

Following Mickey D's was Jack's. A few loved the seasoning salt on the fries, but most disliked it.

Rounding out the worst with a few votes were the beer-battered fries from Mugshots. While most diners loved them, there were some who found them over-breaded and tasteless.

In Part II, we'll look at the French fries area diners love the most.
