Last summer, a newly renovated Arby's opened at 1610 Florence Boulevard; just two months later a fire closed the location. Permanently?
Arby's has 96 locations in Alabama and the Florence site was one of 13 to be renovated in 2014/15. The chain said it was prepared to make a major investment to keep its eateries up to date. To quote a 2014 Huntsville Times article:
Exterior improvements to the stores include a new color palette, use of strong geometric elements, new internally illuminated sign, new lighting and white brick and wood tones. Interior improvements include an updated color palette, stainless steel in the kitchen, and modern lighting.
The Florence fire in mid-October was reportedly due to carelessly discarded smoking materials, but the month before an Arby's in Johnson City, Tennessee, was intentionally torched. Executives with the roast beef chain stated on October 20th that the store would soon reopen, there's been no sign of any work at the facility.
The manager of Dollar Tree has stated the new North Florence store has cut into sales at their Florence Boulevard location, and Harbor Freight Tools is hardly a casual shopping spot. Is the out parcel Florence Boulevard Arby's just not worth another do-over?
Finicky Tech
Even after "fire proof" cigarettes, they still want to blame every fire on "careless smoking". What a joke. The adulterated cigs won't stay lit unless you puff them continuously. I don't know how they think one could start a fire.
